What's
Cooking in the Kitchen?
Julie Przybylski
Greetings in 2012! For all of
the new parents with children attending the center, I wanted
to briefly explain the coffee and foodservices we offer here
at The Learning Gardens. Coffee is served from 7-10AM Monday
through Friday, is self serve, and each cup is $1.00. We are
now serving Seattle's Best coffee at the moment. Food is available
for sale in the staff lounge cooler (to the left past the 2
main offices) and prices and details of food items available
each day are located on the marker board when you enter through
the main entrance and on the freezer door. Please pay Kari or
Candice, or leave the money or check on Kari's desk with a brief
note as to what you bought.
MC (Butterfly Room) and I will be planning this year's garden
together. We could use any help with finding a good place to
purchase/install trellises for the concord grape vines and the
boysenberry bushes. Also, we were hoping to find a rain barrel
to use near the main garden to the left of the center. If anyone
knows of a cheap place to get a quality rain barrel, or has
one they want to get rid of that they would like to donate,
it would be most appreciative! Please let either of us know
if you are interested in helping!
Kimberly Aime, a local food blogger, interviewed me in October
of 2011. She finally has the article posted on her blog page,
www.learntocookbadgergirl.com. Look for it in the local chef's
interview tab on the left hand side of the page. Her business
cards are next to all of the brochures in the front area by
the coffee, if interested at all as well.
I am especially exited to hear that a Gordmans Food is opening
March 5th in this side of town near the Honda dealership. It
is like a Sam's Club, but without the membership fees! Right
now, I am ordering from both Sysco Baraboo and Dierks Waukesha,
and shopping every week for smaller items ad Woodman's. Hopefully
it will be a nice and more affordable outlet for parents and
for us here at the center! Looking forward to Spring!

some of her recipes, featured on the local blog, "Badger
Girl Learns to Cook."
