Hola Familias de los Learning Gardens! Feliz Cinco de Mayo! Yes, it is already May and spring is in full bloom. We've been having fun talking about spring conejitos (bunny rabbits) and pajaritos (birds), we can salta (hop) like the bunnies and do the pajaritos a volar (dance little bird - aka the chicken dance) dance that actually has words in Spanish!

Now that the weather's better we talk about walking outside and moving a lot…our 2 year olds are especially fond of going caminando! (walking - song lyrics follow) We've talked about spring colors with our egg shakers, maracas, and beanbags. Even the Tren de Carga (Freight Train) flannel story has lots of rainbow colors that we know and say. And we are enjoying other new flannel stories, books, and CD's too. Thanks to the parents who order from Club Leo and Scholastic catalogs - that helps earn those kind of materials we can use in our programs.

With Mother's Day around the corner we'll be asking "Tu Mama es una Llama?" (Is your Mama a Llama?) with the book, llama puppet, and flannelboard animal pieces. And we hope all our real mamas will come by for MJother's Day bagels on the 8th of May too. Felicidades!

Something else new this spring are copies of weekly Spanish lesson plans for parents to pick up, if interested. You will find them in a holder on the wall just above the computers each week. And since the number one request I get is for the Spanish words to the songs and fingerplays the children are singing and saying in Spanish at home, each week I'll try to have a song or two on the lesson plan for families. Disfruta - enjoy! And happy spring & summer to you…Feliz primavera y Feliz verano!
