Happy Winter Caterpillar Families!
The snow has finally arrived, and wanted to give a reminder
about winter clothing. We have noticed that quite a few of you
have not replenished your child's clothing bucket since after
winter break. Please refill these buckets and keep them stocked
of extra socks and winter-like apparel for when your little
one my have accidents or their clothes become wet from enjoying
the snow outside. There is only so many extra clothes that we
have to lend out! Also be sure that your child has waterproof
mitten and boots, and that they are clearly labeled with your
child's name. Preschoolers go outside almost every day unless
the wind chill is below zero degrees.
As some of you may have noticed we have began to do letter of
the week and journals. This activity will be done every Thursday
and will continue on until we complete the entire alphabet.
We ask that you please work with your child to brainstorm words
that begin with that letter. At group time on Thursday we read
a story about that letter and the children generate a word list
starting with that letter as a large group activity. This is
a great outreach tool for us to have with families and their
child, as well as gives your child some great phonic practice
at home for all the family to help.
Star of the week will also be starting soon and a poster will
be given for you and your child to make extra special. The poster
will be handed out the week prior to which your child is the
star in order to give you plenty of time to complete. We encourage
families to come in and share stories, treats, projects, whatever
it may be. If you have any ideas for when your child is the
star, please feel free to do so and just give your teachers
a heads up! :
Zumbatonics and Jump Bunch have recently started for the Caterpillars.
Zumbatonics is held every Tuesday morning and goes from 9:00am
to 9:30am that morning. Jump Bunch is now taught again by Coach
Kent and is held every Wednesday from 10:30am to 11:00am for
one group and then a smaller Caterpillar group joins some Sunshine
friends at 11:00am until 11:30am. Please ask if you have any
questions about the times or day for either activity.
Heads Up! Field trips for the end of winter/spring are being
finalized. Be on the look out for information for the times
and official dates. However, we can tell you that in February
we will visit the Madison Children's Museum, March will include
trips to the Planetarium and Fire Station #2, and April will
be a bowling trip. Chaperones are ALWAYS welcome! :
Lastly some themes for the next two months include Chinese
New Year, Valentine's Day, Outer Space, Dr. Seuss, Dentist/Healthy
Teeth, and Pets. We always encourage ideas for new themes and/or
projects!
