Happy New Year Treehouse families!
After holding winter at bay for several weeks, it has finally
arrived - and it is cold! We have been getting creative with
our lesson plans as the temperature has fluctuated from 50 degrees
one week to single digits the next week, but we have made it
out to play in the snow.
Our classroom saw a few new faces the last months of the year
as we welcome Evan and Jake from Baby Belugas. We also said
good-bye to Tianmai and Austen as they moved up into the Sunflowers.
Mark your calendars for Wednesday, Feb. 15; this will be our
"Winter Ball" Family Night. You can expect more information
on the Winter Ball closer to the event.
We have also enjoyed some lower classroom ratios as several
of our families have taken extended vacations, most recently
Doelle and Riya to visit India. Unfortunately, some of our low
numbers have been the result of widespread illness through our
classroom, as well as through the Learning Gardens in general.
We want to assure you that we are making every effort to clean
and sanitize in the classroom as often as possible, and to continue
frequent hand washing.
With this in mind, we would like to remind families of the
Learning Gardens policy on illness in observance of State Licensing
Regulations.
When children become ill at The Learning Gardens, they must
be picked up immediately and must remain out of the center for
24 hours after exhibiting the following symptoms:
" Vomiting (more than usual spitting up)
" Diarrhea (2 instances within a 24-hour period)
" Temperature of 101 degrees or higher (our policy is to
take temperatures under the arm and then add a degree to reach
proper body temperature)
" Any contagious illness
" Any undiagnosed rash
" Other illnesses outlined in our Policy Manual
As every one of our families has been touched by illness in
some way already this winter, we would like to thank you all
for being so understanding and cooperative. If you have any
questions about the illness policy or any illnesses that may
be posted outside the classrooms when there is potential exposure,
please do not hesitate to speak with either of us, Candice,
or Kari.
As always, please feel free to stop by or call any time with
questions, concerns, or just to say hi. Our e-mail is tlg.treehouse@gmail.com
and our room extension is 104.
